Thanksgiving has come and gone. I have a love/hate relationship with the holidays lately thanks largely in part to some family drama, but who doesn’t have family drama?
The house is moving slowly, but I took advantage of some Black Friday deals and bought paint! I’m so excited! I am going with a deep green for most of the house, and a deep blueish/green for the master. God willing I’ll have a liveable home by the first of the year.
From my browser history this week:
Tom Brittney is exiting Granchester! Oh, man. I loved Sidney, despite the direction they took his character in the last 6 episodes of his tenure, but Will is my favourite vicar so far. I’m a little crushed, not going to lie.
I ordered Our Thoughts Determine Our Lives by Elder Thaddeus of Vitovnica. Elder Thaddeus was a Serbian Orthodox monk who had a rather Buddhist bent to his teachings if you’re able to look at it with an open mind. He taught his followers that what we think influences how our days and lives play out. Elder Thaddeus was a contemporary of Ram Dass and Alan Watts who also shared this concept, but Elder’s teachings didn’t reach the same level of mass awareness.
This book was recommended by someone either on the Orthodoxy Reddit, or in one of my many Orthodoxy Facebook groups. I’m still awaiting the book’s arrival, but I am doing so eagerly.
